Wilma “Juanelle” Shadday, 84, of North Vernon, passed away at 8:13 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at her residence.
Born October 22, 1941, in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Herbert L. and Ruth (Cantrell) Meade. She married William Eugene Shadday on February 13, 1965, in Hayden; he preceded her in death on February 6, 2003.
Juanelle was a 1959 graduate of Hayden High School and worked on the injector line at Cummins Engine Company in Columbus for 30 plus years retiring in 2000. She was a member of the Harms Street Church of Christ in North Vernon. Juanelle enjoyed gardening, mowing her lawn and being with her dogs, especially Hiro and Peaches.
She is survived by her sons, William L. (Jackie) Shadday and Gary E. (Jenny) Shadday, both of Hayden; her daughter, Cynthia M. (Dean) Turner-Finley of Hayden; sisters, Cheryl (Dean) Axsom and Karen (Floyd) Terry, both of Hayden; grandchildren, Megan Renee (James) Howard of Florida, Ty (Maddy) Giddens of Virginia, Brandon S. (Kassidy) Turner of Hayden, Katlyn A. (Cody) Hines of Brewersville, Anthony W. (Ashleigh White) Shadday of Seymour, Brett (Ashley) Shadday of North Vernon, Alisha B (James Helton) Shadday of Seymour, Maranda R. (Donovan Harris) Shadday of Tampico, Maria P. (Braydon) Owens of Madison, and Elijah B. Shadday of Hayden; thirteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Harold J. and Robert L. Meade.
A funeral service for Juanelle will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service with Jack Oliver officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Burial will follow in Hayden Cemetery in Hayden.
Memorials may be made in honor of Juanelle through the funeral home to Mercy Rescue and Adoption Inc.
