Virginia May Sedam, 90, of North Vernon, passed away at 4:45 a.m. on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at her residence.
Born May 3, 1936, in North Vernon, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Sadie Mae (Land) Hubbard. She married Bernard C. Sedam on June 16, 1953, in Vernon; he survives.
Virginia attended Zenas and North Vernon High School and worked as a cook, server and helper for the former Bowens Restaurant in North Vernon for several years. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in North Vernon where she had once served as Church Secretary. Virginia enjoyed camping.
Surviving with her husband, Bernard, is her son, Nathan (Gail) Sedam of North Vernon; her daughters, Belinda (Duke) Morris of Louisville, Kentucky and Dawnn (Mike Hickman) Lewis of Scottsburg; grandchildren, Jessica Sanders and Ashley Imlay, both of North Vernon, Caitlynn Sedam of Columbus, Stephanie Horstman of Otisco, Alicia (Gary Mathews) Reeves of Bradenton, Florida, and Erika (Joseph) McKinley of Salem; great-grandchildren, Jarod Michael Imlay of New York, Jeffery Ian Tatlock and Hannah Marie Tatlock, both of Scottsburg, Elizabeth Sanders of North Vernon, Katie Horstman of Scottsburg, Graysen McKinley, Alexis Reardon, Quintin McKinley, Ellison McKinley and Dawson McKinley, all of Salem
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her three brothers; and two sisters.
The funeral service for Virginia will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 5, 2026, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service. The visitation for family and friends will be from 11:00 a.m. until the start of the service on Monday. The burial will follow in Dupont Cemetery in Dupont.
Memorials may be made in honor of Virginia through the funeral home to the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
