Thelma M. (Campfield) Selig

Thelma M. Selig, 85, of North Vernon, passed away at 11:15 a.m. on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at her residence.

Born April 9, 1941, in Jennings County she was the daughter of the late John H. and Ida (Lockhard) Campfield. She married Robert Selig on January 29, 1961, at the First Baptist Church in North Vernon; he preceded her in death on July 3, 2019.

Thelma was a DST/QMA for the former Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville and had worked as a waitress in restaurants. She was a member of Hopewell Baptist in Bartholomew County and Shiloh Baptist Church in Columbus. Thelma enjoyed going bowling, watching the Hallmark Channel, listening to music and working word search puzzles.

She is survived by her son, Jason Neal (Melanie Graham) Selig of North Vernon; daughter, Christina Jean Selig of North Vernon; sisters, Christina Kay Bays and Agatha Mildred Wilson, both of North Vernon; grandchildren, Jamie Lynn (William “Bill”) Brandt of Hayden, Dana Marie (Josh) Hartwell of Terre Haute, Heather Dawn Harmon of North Vernon, Marly Victorian (Aaron) Belvins of North Vernon, and Neal Scott Selig of Alabama; sixteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son, Scott David Selig; daughter, Diana Lynn Robertson; brothers, Robert Dale and Dalton David Campfield; and sisters, Alice Leona Hubbard, Georgeanna Green, and Phyllis Owens.

The funeral service for Thelma will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service. The visitation for family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2026, and one hour prior to the service on Sunday. Burial will follow in Baldwin Cemetery in Vernon.

Memorials may be made in honor of Thelma through the funeral home to Our Hospice of Jennings County.
