Sarah J. Dobbs
Sarah J. Dobbs, 82, of North Vernon, Indiana, passed away on August 19, 2026, at her residence.
Sarah was born July 8, 1944. She was born and raised in Montgomery, Indiana, the daughter of Clarence and Inez Bennett.
Sarah was a stay-at-home mom while the children were young. She loved gardening and sewing. Later worked for Bartholomew County Schools in the cafeteria, was a beautician, construction worker and had rental houses. She was one to say, “where there’s a will, there’s a way.”
Sarah married Jack Dobbs on June 22, 1996. She was a member of Vernon Baptist Church and loved the Lord. She cherished time with her kids, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Sarah is survived by her husband, Jack Dobbs; her children, Kenny (Ursula) Williams of Columbus, Connie Rucker of North Vernon, Melinda (Diego Ubaldo Sanchez) Williams of Taylorsville; stepsons, David Dobbs of Ingalls, Tim Dobbs of Morristown; stepdaughter, Beverly Dobbs of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Macy (Eric) Schoonover of Columbus, D.J. (Mariah) Rucker of North Vernon, Nathan Williams of Muncie, Diego and Hanna Williams of Taylorsville; step-grandson, Christopher Dobbs of Indianapolis, Emily Martin of Huntingburg, and Christine Curtis of Apalachin, New York; brother, Richard (Mary Fran) Bennett of Washington; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Inez Bennett, and brothers, Bernard and James Bennett.
A funeral service for Sarah will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, August 24, 2026, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Don Morris officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be on Monday, from 4:00 p.m. until the start of the service. A private graveside will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made in honor of Sarah through the funeral home to Alzheimer’s Association or Queensville Community Church.
