Rita Jo Westerman Craig, 83, of Scottsburg, passed away at 2:52 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at her residence.
Born June 22, 1942, in Osgood, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Minnie (Huntington) Westerman.
Rita worked as a DST (developmental skills technician) for the former Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville for 33 plus years. She was of Morman Faith and a member of the Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints. Rita enjoyed working puzzles, crossword puzzles, crocheting, watching television and going for rides.
Survivors include her sons Keith Wayne Craig of Greensburg and Scott E. Craig of Scottsburg; half-brother, Bill Lewis of Star City; sister, Dodie Hanson of Florida; grandchildren, Teresa (Jeffrey) Jones of Scottsburg and Bubby Craig of South Bend; and great-grandchildren, Lillian Jones, Kinley Jones, Kinsey Jones, and Brandon Jones all of Scottsburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, John, Gilbert and Carl Westerman and sister-in-law, Patricia Westerman.
The funeral service for Rita will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 11, 2026, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon. The visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Mud Pike Cemetery in Osgood.
