Mary Jane Richardson, 89, of North Vernon, passed away at 7:28 p.m. on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at her residence.
Born November 19, 1933, in Canton, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Russell William and Gertrude Louise (Prall) Hahn. She married Floyd W. “Red” Richardson on June 30, 1951, in Blocher; he preceded her in death on February 25, 2013.
Mary was a homemaker and housewife and was an election poll worker for years. She was a member of Blocher Methodist Church in Blocher, Card Club in North Vernon, and the Knob Lake Camping Club. Mary enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, working word search puzzles, motor car clubs, and she enjoyed serving on the Railroad Days Committee.
Survivors include her sons, Donnie Richardson of Scottsburg and Freddie Richardson of North Vernon; daughters, Connie Young of North Vernon and Marie (Shane) Everroad of Greenwood; sister, Martha Gasser of Little York; grandchildren, Kara (Alex King) Richardson and Drake (Hannah) Richardson, both of Louisville, Kentucky, Kalea (Matt Holliday) Richardson of Scottsburg, Tamara (Andrew) Flora of Scipio, Micky Richardson of Cincinnati, Ohio, Jeremy Richardson of Covington, Kentucky, andCaitlyn Everroad and Courtney Everroad, both of Greenwood; and great-grandchildren, Kadin Richardson, Madilyn Holliday, and Hudson Holliday, all of Scottsburg, Ziah King of Louisville, Kentucky, and Finley Palmer of Scipio.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Thomas Edward Hahn, Karl Hahn, and Freddie Hahn; and sister, Virginia Mae Woodard.
A funeral service for Mary will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Caleb Reynolds officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. A burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.
