Marquis "Markie" Wayne Clark

Marquis “Markie” Wayne Clark, 40, of Scipio, passed away at 3:23 p.m. on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis.

Born February 5, 1986, in Seymour, the son of April (Sullivan) Ross and the late Mark W. Clark. He was engaged to Laura Kiernan; she preceded him in death.

Markie graduated in 2004 from Jennings County High School. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, dirt bikes, playing darts, euchre, horse racing and fantasy football. Markie was the life of the party and would say, “I’m not here for long time, I’m here for good time.”, socializing with his friends and family, attending Colts Football and IU Basketball games and was a sport fanatic. He loved his cousins and “leveling with the littles.”

He is survived by his mother, April (Gus) Ross of North Vernon; daughters, Emma Clark and Aubrey Clark; step-brother, Warren Ross; grandparents, Dorothy Clark and Norma Sullivan-Kilgas; step-grandfather, Larry Ross; aunts and uncles; Paula (Bruce) Hasley and their children and grandchildren; Yvonne (Bryan) Ritz and their children and grandchildren, Ron (Karen) Clark and their children and grandchildren, Tim (Debbie) Clark and their children and grandchildren, Annette (Kevin) “Clark” McKeand and their children and grandchildren, John Clark and his children and grandchildren, Betty Estes and her children and grandchildren, Missie (Devin) Estes and their children and grandchildren, and Jeff (Christy) Ross and their children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Mark Clark; fiancé-“wife”, Laura Kiernan; grandfathers, Ron Clark and Marquis “Lloyd” Sullivan; great-grandparents, Art and Virginia Cox; step-brother, Joe Ross; and step-grandparents, Roger Kilgas and Janet Ross.

A funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2026, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with John Clark, who is officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, October 22, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial will follow in Hayden Cemetery in Hayden.
