John Paul Ramsey, 69, of North Vernon, passed away at 5:50 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born April 16, 1957, in Columbus, he was the son of Marshall and Joan (Oldham) Ramsey. He married Carol Perry on September 26, 1976, at the Centerville Community Church in Jennings County; she survives.
John was a 1975 graduate of Jennings County High School and was a lifelong freelance Construction Worker for 45 years. He was a former member of the First Christian Church in North Vernon. His hobbies include going out to eat, gun collecting, fishing, and spending time with his grandkids.
Surviving with his wife, Carol, are his children – Penny Merry of Seymour, Tiffany (Lester) Noble and Trenton (Ashley) Ramsey, all of North Vernon; one brother – Steve (Sally) Ramsey of Florida; three sisters – Jeanne Arthur of Whiteland, Sherry (Carl) Stone of New Jersey, and Judy (Jerry) Ison of Kentucky; grandchildren – Justin, Autumn, Ethan, and Hope Merry, Aleigha Noble, Isabella Terranova, Glorianna Noble, Jensen Noble, Aiden Ramsey, Alexis Hughes, Keegan Ramsey; great grandchild – Roslyn Pollard.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister – Joyce Ramsey; one grandson – Tony Merry.
A funeral for Mr. Ramsey will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, May 4, 2026, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home with the Rev. Kendall Wildey and Rev Tom Sarver officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 4 from 3 p.m. until time of funeral. Burial will be a private family gathering at a later date.
