John Patrick Blount Jr, 33, of North Vernon, passed away at 6:38 p.m. on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at Ascension St Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon.
Born April 27, 1990, in Bartholomew County, he was the son of Melody (Dean) Halfacre and the late John Patrick Blount Sr.
John worked for SET Steel and had previously worked for Rose Acres, Hilex Poly, Decatur Plastics, Joe’s Fencing, Erler’s Industries and Sexton Wilbert. He enjoyed playing PlayStation, yard work, mudding, using a Dremel tool, woodburning, and building things. John loved being a dad and playing with his nieces and nephews.
Survivors include his sons, Landyn Blount of Vernon, and Maliki Blount of North Vernon; mother, Melody Halfacre of North Vernon; grandmothers, Shirley Terrell of Seymour and Deloris Dean of North Vernon; companion, Jaymie Wright of Vernon; brothers, Allen (Taylor Walker) Blount of Columbus, Cory Rains and Cody Rains, both of Edinburgh; sisters, Heather Blount and Tara Blount both of North Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and grandfathers, Lance Reynolds, and William Robert Dean.
A funeral service for John will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with Brother Ricky Persons officiating. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 8:00 p.m.
Memorials may be made in honor of John through the funeral home for expenses.
