Emily Jean Rice, 68, of Vernon, passed away at 12:37 p.m. on Tuesday, August 4th, 2026, at her residence.
She was born in Indiana, on January 3rd, 1958, the daughter of the late William and Florence (Flannery) Brewer. She married Donald Rice on April 4th, 1995, in Vernon; he preceded her in death on June 14th, 2010.
Emily worked and retired from Aisin in Seymour after many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, talking on the phone, playing bingo, playing with her dog, and going out to eat. She was a fan of shopping where she was a proud holder of a JCPenney gold card. She also had an amazing collection of Beanie Babies.
Survivors include her daughter, Rachel Hawkins; grandchildren, Nikiah (Joseph) Pettit, Brooklee (Jessie) Frazee, Delanee Jines, and Alyssa Jines (Louden); great-grandchildren, Gunner, Ellie, Nash, Eva, Ensley, Marlee, and Elliott; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don Rice; brothers, Doug, Chuck, Ronald, and Chester; and sisters, Kat, Wanda, and Ruth.
Funeral service for Emily will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, August 10th, 2026, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon. The visitation for family and friends will be on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the service. Burial will follow in the Spurgeon Cemetery in Austin.
Memorials may be made in honor of Emily through the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
