Donald B. Redmond

Donald B. Redmond, 86, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, or Uncle Don to most of us, passed away a little after 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, in Fort Wayne.

Donald was born on October 1, 1939, in Nancy, Kentucky, to Robert and Zella Redmond. Donald graduated from Danvers IL Community High School in 1958. He spent several years living in Greenwood, IN before relocating to Fort Wayne in 2003. 

Donald spent his career as a salesman in various department stores, a role that fit his friendly nature. He had a way of connecting with people, whether through work, family, or a story about one of his favorite finds.

Donald loved antiques, a good deal, and especially his 1986 Porsche, which he enjoyed talking about often. He also had a knack for finding treasures during his Goodwill shopping trips and enjoyed spending time gardening. Family will remember that he always seemed to have snacks and candy ready for the little ones whenever they came over, and he took pride in making sure family had a warm meal whenever they visited. A simple gesture that showed how much joy he found in making others feel cared for.

Although Donald never married and had no children of his own, he had a special gift for making his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews feel loved. He shared an especially close bond with Mary and her family, who were blessed by his steady presence, kindness, and love.

Donald is survived by his siblings, Hellen Scott, Orville (Carol) Redmond, and Auda (Debra) Redmond; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Zella Redmond; his sisters, Angela Pennington and Mary Marchesano; and his brothers, Ronald Redmond, Arnold Redmond, and Marvin Redmond.

The visitation for Donald will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon, IN. Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 15, 2026, in the Collins Cemetery, 545 Happy Ridge Road, Nancy, KY 42544.
